ONCE. TWICE. THREE TIMES A CHAMPION.
The KHS softball team found themselves in familiar territory last week as they claimed their third consecutive conference championship.
“It is incredible to earn the conference title three years in a row. In the words of Mr. Atwell it is a “TRIPLE DIPPER!” This team is so special. We put in so much effort and time to get to where we are today” said Kalleigh Gale, team captain, and the sole senior on the Boilermaker squad. Gale, an Augustana commitment recently racked up her 500th strikeout as she closes out her stellar high school career.
Left-fielder Remy Hicks echoed Gale’s sentiments. “This team has a culture that’s hard to explain unless you are part of it. There is so much pride in wearing the Boilermaker jersey and so much trust between every person in the dugout. We celebrate each other, push each other, and play for something bigger than ourselves. Winning three straight conference championships comes from the passion we have for our school and the love we had for each other.”
The Boilermakers approach postseason play with a 17-8 record.
